It’s hard to worship or relate to God if you don’t know how so here’s a little workout to help you get started out. This can be done anywhere, anytime. You just have to make time to spend the time with him. And just like working out, it gets easier the more you do it so try it everyday:
- Start with 30 seconds of giving God praise. How do you praise someone? You tell them how good they are. You celebrate what they have done. In this case, tell God how good He is and how good He is to you. Celebrate Him for what He has done.
- For at least 1 minute, give thanks to God. Giving thanks makes you think about what someone has done for you, especially those things you could never do for yourself or give to yourself, like breath in your body, for example.
- For at least 1 minute, say out loud who God has identified Himself as to you. For example, if you have found Him to be your Source of provision, tell Him, “Lord, You are my Source and my Provider.” You can also say any scriptures you know that line up with who He is too, like Phlippians 4:8 which says, “My God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory,” or “The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not lack anything.”
- For at least 2 minutes, take any area that you have been having a difficult time in and surrender it to God. Let God know what is going on in that area. Then let God know that based on who He is and who we are not, you are giving Him this area and every area of your life to lead and be in control of. Ask for His direction and wisdom. Ask for His answer- what He says about the situation.
